Being at the tail end of the Baby Boom generation, I should be winding down my career and preparing for retirement. After all, I have been a flight attendant for 36 years. But somewhere along the way, my childhood dream of owning a small boutique became a reality…and without too much thought or preparation I might add!
What started out as a home-based business doing mostly trunk shows, then taking a leap into opening a small, upstairs retail space, has now grown into a thriving boutique. None of this happened overnight, or without outside help from folks with a whole lot of knowledge in the business world.
How did this happen? Well, I learned a few things along the way that were essential for growth and success, like you must do your homework, start small, be patient and utilize the help of others.
To see more of what I learned along the way, take a minute to read my full column in this week’s FLORIDA TODAY Business Section, here!
