Perhaps I should explain…

While attending weVENTURE’s Women Who Rock Luncheon, I had the pleasure of speaking with Ellen Little, a highly sought after and very talented local business consultant. We usually talk about business trends and observations so it wasn’t unusual for me to ask about her recent experiences in the field. Specifically, I asked her what she saw as the most critical problem facing business owners.

While the majority of the public is caught up in the political environment, millennial challenges, technology advances, continuing effects of the Internet or insurance issues, Ellen responded to my question by saying, “The single most consistent reason for businesses to fail is because they still don’t understand their margins.” I completely agree with her.

Take a minute to read more about how apply being “marginal” to your life and business in this week’s FLORIDA TODAY Business section.
