Free Workshop on February 15 at CareerSource Brevard Rockledge
MELBOURNE, FLA. (January 18, 2017) –weVENTURE, a Central Florida-based organization launched at Florida Institute of Technology and focused on accelerating sustainable business growth for entrepreneurs, is hosting a free Work for [email protected]+℠ workshop in coordination with AARP Foundation on Wednesday, February 15 beginning at 9 a.m. at CareerSource Brevard’s Rockledge location.
In late 2016, weVENTURE was awarded a grant from AARP Foundation, allowing the organization to conduct Work for [email protected]+ workshops to interested attendees. This program provides the knowledge, support, and resources needed to make informed decisions about successful self-employment.
During this workshop, Work for [email protected]+ breaks the choices down for adults in an approachable way through five steps:
- A careful consideration of the potential benefits and risks of working for yourself
- Exercises to help develop the self-employment idea
- A realistic overview of what it takes to pursue a self-employment opportunity
- Guidance to help avoid pitfalls and scams
- Ways to find trustworthy support and services in the community
“We were excited to see the interest and need for this workshop in our community at our first Work for [email protected]+ event back in December,” said weVENTURE Executive Director Erica Lemp. “It is truly refreshing to see the passion of these new entrepreneurs and we are thankful to be able to offer this unique opportunity in collaboration with AARP Foundation.”
This national grant initiative is designed to help older adults assess opportunities for self-employment, build skills, and connect with resources that will enable them to generate income by working for themselves.
